Last Monday, we got to sit down with our new family of investigators, and it went really well, and we got to see them on Wednesday, and gave them a Book of Mormon. One thing that I learned from this week, especially from teaching this family, is the importance of having the Spirit when we teach. In Ephesians 6:18, it talks about having the 'sword of the Spirit.’ The verses before and after talk about how important it is to have the 'WHOLE Armor of God” and the most important tool we have as missionaries is the Spirit. Without the Spirit, we cannot do anything. We are the mouth pieces of our Heavenly Father, but the Spirit is what reaches the hearts of those that we teach. Well the Spirit pretty much drowned us on Wednesday when we brought the Book of Mormon to the family. Even though they are still very much involved in their own church, testifying of the power of the Book of Mormon was quite the experience. We are so excited to go see them on Thursday to find out how their reading has gone!
We also found another part-family to teach, a mother and her two children. We have yet to meet the husband...but never say never. Anyways, we sat down with her last night, and she was so open and loving to us. She loves her two sons so much, and we discussed the importance of families. It waas funny, one thing she said to us was that even though she is Catholic, and has been Catholic all her life, she still feels empty. Well, lucky for her we have some GREAT things to fill her life with. Like the FULLNESS of this Restored Gospel! Needless to say, we are stoked about her too. We are having FHE tonight with her family, and some members in our branch.
Another great experience we had was visiting with the Recent Convert couple who just recently lost their son in the boating accident last month. They have become very near and dear to me, and every time we visit together, my heart breaks because of how they are hurting. But one thing that they always say is that even though they are sad now, they have a testimony that they'll see Tuqi again someday!!! How lucky for us to know about the Plan of Salvation! When we visited them, we talked about doing family history work and temple work for the dead. We want to also help our other recent converts start their family history work as well because since family members have passed away, we are the only ones able to do their work. So go out there, and do some family history work! And don't say your grandparents and parents have done it all...go do some yourself! :)
We had a baptism on Sunday for Joel, and it was great! His two older brothers have served missions, and he is now preparing to go serve one in a year. Yay!! We have one more baptism next week, and then unfortunately don't have any planned for a little bit, but we are working on it! :)
Well, I just want to shout out my love to everyone, and send some bright sunny rays all the way from the Garden Island of Fiji :)
