It hasn't stopped raining since Wednesday!! Seriously, I didn't even know that this much moisture could possibly exist, but I kid you not when I say it's been pouring down rain for the past like 5 days!!!
Sister Bechu and I had a good first week together! On Tuesday and Wednesday, we went around visiting lots of the members and branch presidency to get her to know them. Since Sister Bechu is from Fiji, she has LOTS of connections with people, so they already love her! And a fun thing that happened, we found a less active woman who was baptized by the senior couple missionary here on Taveuni, Elder McFadden, like 40 something years ago!!! He sent us to her house, and we went to visit, and ended up teaching her husband, and her daughter and daughter in law. We are going back later today to continue teaching them. We are really excited!! And another cool thing about them- so the daughter has been sick for a little, so we sent Elder McFadden and President Maiwiriwiri over to their house to give her a blessing, and they were really impressed with the anointing of oil and laying on of hands, so that's going to be something we talk about with them tonight of the importance of those things that are included with the priesthood!!
Then Thursday was our big day out. We walked out to the edge of the area, in the POURING RAIN!!! We took our umbrellas and rain coats, because rain ain't got NOTHIN on missionary work! Even though we both almost slipped in mud like 7 and a half times, and almost got swept away in the rushing force of the bridge/river, we had a great time meeting with our investigators and our members. We challenged one of the families in our branch to hand out a Restoration pamphlet to someone who they think would be interested in the church, so that will be fun to go back and follow up on! Friday and Saturday we kept teaching our investigators, and some recent converts. We almost got blown away with the wind a few times, but no worries, we are safe and sound!
SUNDAY- this is actually really funny now, but it wasn't yesterday. So Saturday night, we had like 4 people tell us it was daylight savings on Sunday, so Saturday night we changed our clock 1 hour forward and we woke up at 6:30 am, which actually was 5:30. BUT LUCKILY we did because as we were getting ready, Sister Bechu said "Sister Trammell, who is filling up the font?" AHHH I FORGOT TO FILL UP THE FONT!!! Lkjoi3u(*&(&^%#%ioi4jf!!! So half dressed, and still hardly awake since we got less sleep the night before, we RAN to the chapel, quick turned on the font, and prayed, prayed, and PRAYED harder than I've ever prayed before. We went home, got finished getting ready, went back to the chapel, and waited for everyone to show up. But when it was getting late, we decided to ask if it really was daylight savings...IT WASNT! hahahaha! So we woke up an hour early, but it was a blessing in disguise because then the font was full, the baptisms occurred, and souls were saved!!! Needless to say, it was a success. It's funny how the Spirit prompts us to do things in preparation for future experiences! Faith really is the power! As long as we have faith, the blessings will come, in ways that we least expect them haha.
Anyways, CONGRATS TO MY LITTLE BRO FOR GETTING INTO UTAH STATE! I love you, Dean!
