Well...the highlight of this week by far was the musical fireside that the youth and YSA of our ward put on last night. It was SO AWESOME! Basically, the Spirit was just covering us like a nice big, warm blanket. Our Zone Conference was AWESOME too. It was great, two spiritually lifting experiences in one week, WOOHOO!
The theme was "Come unto Christ." The kids planned 10 or more songs to sing, and in between shared spiritual thoughts and testimonies about how even though life is hard and things aren't easy, we have trials. But, coming unto Christ will help us become stronger. As we are more committed to follow Him, whatever the circumstances are in, we will be blessed with the Spirit to lead us and guide us. We will be 'made holy again.' He's waiting for us to come to Him!
There was a nice spiritual thought that the Stake President shared at the end of the fireside and it was:
"When God spoke to Adam and Eve and said, "Come forward," they had 2 choices...either they could stay covered in fig leaves, or they could come forward, and 'be clothed' in the Atonement." It was pretty powerful when He said it because it made me think that we all have choices. When we hear the Savior calling out to us, telling us to change our ways and return to Him, we can either stay covered in our fig leaves of sin and disobedience, or be clothed in the robes of the Atonement and forever stay in His arms. So go on out there, ditch those fig leaves (they smell weird anyways) and "Come unto Christ" and by His grace be made Holy again!
We had a great zone conference as well this week. There was so much excitement from our Mission president, President Layton. He gave us ways for us to focus on being aligned with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. As we study and teach others, and as we learn ourselves, we need to make sure the things we say, and the way we act reflects the teachings of the Savior. We really are His hands and mouths here on the earth, and we need to be careful to represent Him in a way that will make our Heavenly Father proud.
The missionary work is going well too. We are still working on finding lots of new investigators to help teach, and doing lots and LOTS of finding, and reactivating. There's nothing like seeing people who have fallen from the path come back to the fold. "What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance"
How great shall be your joy!
