Dear Family and Friends -
Many of you have asked about Kara’s upcoming tonsillectomy. We did hear from Elder Brown (Pacific Area Medical Advisor) yesterday and here are some of the details he shared w/ us:
“Kara met with Dr. Michael Davison, an otolaryngologist. He is in a clinic that has been used in the past by the Auckland Mission with good results. He seemed very thorough, professional and competent. He agrees that she has exhausted appropriate treatments and that tonsillectomy is now indicated. He explained the procedure and gave her a realistic picture of what to expect during recovery. Her surgical appointment is Tuesday, 18 Feb. She is to be at the hospital about 9:00AM. This will be an outpatient surgery. She will stay with us for the first 36 hours or so. Her first day back with companions will be spent in a mission conference with Elder Anderson. We met her at the airport and had her stay a day at our apartment because she was quite tired. She did rest, but quickly became eager to get back to work. She is now companion to two Sister missionaries. One of her new companions is from — Fiji.” She will stay in New Zealand to recuperate until March 4th and then will return to Fiji to finish out her mission.
We appreciate all the prayers, love and concern you have expressed on Kara’s behalf. We know the Lord is watching out for her and that she will be loved and cared for during her recovery.
